Résumé

This paper aims to identify defining attributes on school decline in order to provide greater clarification to the field. Walker and Avant’s (2011) conceptual method was used and it consisted of six different steps. The literature review and empirical referents gathered show that the concept is of a multidimensional nature. We have identified three defining attributes on school decline: (1) the mission and the school culture are problematic; (2) the school does not adapt properly to the changing environment; (3) the school shows a decrease in students’ achievement.
