Résumé

This article examines a certain idea of effectiveness in education promoted by the protagonists of educational reforms. Our reflection takes place in the context of the adoption of Bill 23. This lays the foundations for the creation of l’Institut national d’excellence en éducation in Québec. We approach the theme of effectiveness in education by basing on fundamental texts in the fields of education, sociology, and economics. We conclude that a certain conception of efficiency in education serves as an anchoring vector for globalized economism, to the detriment of the emancipatory finality of education.
